The original buildings were of very different characters and with a variety of floor levels presented a significant challenge to creating a unified new surgery building.  

The creation of a new entrance/reception link with short ramps and steps resolved the levels issue, and included a new staircase and lift for patient access to the first floor facilities.

The ‘structural shells’ of the buildings were retained, adapted and completely over-clad with a high performance thermal envelope and new windows to significantly reduce the future maintenance and running costs.
