Woolley’s Farm
The original north facing entrance to the farmhouse had long been redundant and the house was entered through a very cramped ‘lean-to’ utility room that had been added to the west gable elevation. The design of the new garden room included the remodelling of the lean-to roof to create a new main entrance and porch, and separate access to the main rooms within the house.
After detailed consultation with the local authority planning and conservation officers, planning and listed building consent was secured for a modern oak-framed structure that would be independent and visually distinctive from the original buildings and preserve the sense of separation between them. A mix of glazing and solid infill panels for the walls and roof provided various degrees of enclosure and privacy on the more public side.
